FIELD CAMP WEEK OVER
Had one of the most unique weeks of my life. A real taste of life in the outfield as a soldier... something that all my other pals have already gone through. And from what I hear is only a taste of what life will be like in further command schools such as OCS and SISPEC as theirs consist of 21 day exercises. Nevertheless it was a very tiring 7 days with no shower, no contact with the outside world, and just training in the "beautiful" jungle of Tekong.
Having camo cream smudged onto ur face layer after layer, day by day.... oh, and having insect repellent in between as well, along with whatever u have from ur powder bath... hoo boy. *hiakz* makes for a wonderful SAF facial. And without fail every day there is some cock-a-nadan who gets the whole company in trouble. From early in the morning when we first fall in till the last light of day.
I was stuck with 2 guard duties during the week too. Stupid me. If I had known i would get "chosen" for another one, i would not have volunteered for the first. :P Nevertheless I did realize one thing. Field camp is a good chance for those overweight blokes in our platoon to lose weight. Can't believe how much they lost just by attending one week of field camp. Not sure if it's the amount of physical activity we do or their choice of giving away their combat rations. haha. Anyways, just booked out last night and I still feel sleepy. Gonna head back to bed. Meeting my darling later today, wouldn't wanna be a walking panda :) ...

FORGETTABLE WEEK
This has been a week to forget (literally). Not only did I miss out on a week of training due to my knee problem, I also fell very ill. After getting consultation from the MO, I had to sit out yesterday's route march as well. Next week is our 7 day field camp already. Hope I will have recovered by then.
To top things off I had a bad nose bleed while sleeping last nite. Dunno how it happened exactly, but I just know i had to wake up and have my bedsheets changed b4 i can go back to sleep again. Won't be seeing my darling this weekend as she is away in Thailand with her family. Nor will I see my dear Jie Jie, who is already back in beautiful T.O. Most likely I will spend the whole of today resting at home as there really isn't much one can do when he's sick.
Since entering the army I have found it a lot harder to keep in touch with my friends and to do things I like when I book out. Most of the time my priority is to spend more time with my family and my darling. But I guess this had to come sooner or later. There was bound to be a day when I have to face that fact of life. I guess I just didn't realize it would come without me realizing it. I miss life before army. I miss studying life. I miss working at EDB. I miss my childhood. I miss my family life back during those days. I miss everything.

Si beh sienz... bookout this week is for less than even a day. But I guess i just have to face it and get used to it. Not every weekend is gonna be rosy. This is the SAF afterall... not some holiday weekend. Reached home at almost 10pm last nite... shared a cab with Chee Be & Tze Guan... but i had to walk all the way in from the bus stop to save money for my pals. Can't blame anyone... we had our 7th road march yesterday morning in the pouring rain. To make things worse our platoon f*cked up by being late in reporting strength in the morning and so got it real bad from our platoon sergeant. Well, not all that bad. But still not exactly pleasant to be punished first thing in the morning.
My sis has managed to stay around for an extra week so I get to see her this weekend as well! heh. Kinda feel sorry for her she was so tired last nite from lack of sleep but still wanted to stay awake to accompany me for supper. My corny bro in law made things worse by deliberately shooting questions at her for her to answer when she was already half asleep. :P
Today is my book-in day again. 2000 hrs at Pasir Ris White Sand. Si beh sien. Will meet up with my darling for a few hours later. Won't get to see her next weekend as she will be away with her parents. 2 weeks plus of not seeing her. Followed by only one day of bookout again before my field camp starts. This is the pits man. Enough talk. Got 12 hours of freedom left before i book in. gotta make full use of it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
A very happy 2005 to all... I hope that this year will bring much happiness. Can't really believe how fast 2004 has gone by. Personally, it has been perhaps the fastest one that went by (that i can recall). For whatever reason that may be, it has also been one of the most fulfilling years in my life.
Speaking of the present, I have been feeling extremely lethargic over the past few days. I guess my biological clock is still making some slight adjustments to the regimental style of the army. But not all of it can be blamed on that. Being in Tekong makes us appreciate our weekends a lot more than before. So much so that we want to make full use of every day we are out to do as much as we can.
Yesterday I met darling's parents for the first time. Was rather nervous just before the meeting, especially since I wasn't sure what expectations there were, but it went by alright... and in the end I am kind of looking forward to meeting them again (whenever that may be). Will be seeing less of my darling for the next few weeks. Was a bit depressed at first, but I have been constantly reminded that this small obstacle is nothing compared to some of the problems that other ppl face. Am feeling confident that this period will go by without any problems.
My sis is also heading back to T.O. very soon liao. This will be the last day I spend with her here in Sg for the time being :( Haven't really been able to spend as much time with her as I would've liked. But i guess I only have myself to blame for not clearing the Napfa in time. Tonite booking in timing is at 2000 hrs. Alright, I guess I'm off to make full use of today...
