Two things to blog about.1) The myth that women are able to multi-task is simply that. A myth. Yesterday afternoon, upon reaching home from work I asked my sis to help me get the crutches out of the car boot for me. As she headed to the back of the car she was happily chatting away on the phone with a friend of hers.
Not suspecting anything unusual I just sat there, in the front seat, awaiting my walking aid. Before I knew it though, my dear sister had already strolled more than halfway across the street, phone clasped in one hand, crutches held in the other, yakking away on the phone- leaving me totally helpless just sitting in the car.
Not that I give a damn about being forgotten mind you. But this just shows that women can't multi-task as well as they claim to be. Or at least my sister can't. ;)
2) Appearances can be deceiving. We were at Orchard Hotel yesterday for the food tasting session. Whilst in the lift, a middle-aged guy couldn't help but ask if I had injured my leg due to a parachuting accident. I later on found out he had made that assumption due to the "Guards" polo-tee that I was wearing. How funny, cause the real reason is so much sillier than that.
*In truth, Guardsmen are actually known for heli-rapelling rather than parachuting although the guy probably just lumped it together based on the assumption that both are airborne

I am, to put it simply, tired from waiting. 20th July seems so far away.
And to live day by day hopping around on one foot with two foam padded crutches stuck under your armpits is definitely not as amusing for me physically as it may be visually for my sis...
To top it off I really feel bad not being able to work normally. All this stuff about positive attitude and having your 'chin up' can give you a temporary lift once in awhile, but it just isn't working for me. I want my normal life back. I really do.

Had my cast removed today. My foot is looking very weird bordering on the scary side. Lots of dried skin peeling. Also skin looks significantly darker than the other foot. Still won't be able to bear weight on it till second surgery to have surgical screws removed.
The sole of my feet feels weird against the floor. Against anything in fact. Look forward to the day i can walk again...

Are men's lives that much simpler than women's?
The other day Cathy sent me this very interesting e-mail. Just thought I'd share the content with all of you.
HER DIARY
I asked him what was wrong - he said, " Nothing." I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said it had nothing to do with me and not to worry. On the way home I told him that I loved him, he simply smiled and kept driving. I can't explain his behaviour; I don't know why he didn't say, "I love you, too." When we got home I felt as if I had lost him, as if he wanted nothing to Do with me anymore. He just sat there and watched TV. he seemed distant and absent. Finally I decided to go to bed. About 10 minutes later he came to bed. I decided that I could not take it anymore, so I decided to confront him with the situation but he had fallen asleep.I started crying and cried until I too fell asleep. I don't know what to do.I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else.My life is a disaster.
HIS DIARY
Today Man-U lost to Arsenal. Shit.

Back to Work...
I'm going to bed soon. Tomorrow will be the first day I am back at work since that unfortunate day. The doctor actually covered me in terms of medical leave right up till 31st July. But in all honesty I think that is way too long. Especially if you consider the fact that I just started working at the end of March. So after consulting my specialist, and giving it some serious thought, I've decided I should go back to work.
Even though it means I have to hobble back to my desk on crutches. But thank God my boss is a nice guy, and he has given me some flexibility and let me have a more or less desk-bound role at least for the next few weeks. He also agreed to let me have temporarily modified working hours so that I can avoid the rush hour traffic both going to work and coming back.
Really don't know what it will be like tomorrow. Not exactly looking forward to clearing the tonne of email backlog that's sure to be there. Oh well, we'll see how it goes. Wish me luck!

Welcome Home...
Sis is back. For a lot longer than she has done in the past 9 years. It just struck me that 3 years have already passed since I left Toronto for good. And though I have visited that memory-filled city on short trips twice since then, I still remember how much I missed T.O. when I first left.
But a lot of things have changed since then, not least the way I see things. And on my most recent trip there, I no longer feel the same emotion as I did 3 years back. Having spent 7 years of my life in Canada altogether, there was a time when I couldn't choose between Singapore and my "adopted nation". But maybe time does change all things. Somehow, I am a lot more certain now of where i want to settle down than I was back then.
But I'm sure that no two people share the exact same experience or feeling. For some reason, I see my dear sis, the Canadian, the "professional student" (so to speak with her being a student all her life), as someone who will be a lot more connected to her 'homeland' in years to come. Regardless of what happens though, Canada or Singapore, we have been through so much together as we grew up, and she will always be my big sis. And I really look forward to these next few months that she will be spending at home with me. The last few months with her living under the same roof!
