Went for results collection yesterday at PLC. Our Battalion got a redcon 2A for our ATEC. So much for our CO's dream of achieving the almost impossible Redcon 1. Apparently in the entire history of the SAF, only 5 battalions have ever achieved Redcon 1. The last one being in 2002, when 1st Commando Battalion got it. 3 Guards won it too, during the 9th mono, when it was headed by the late COL Bernard Tan.

Regardless of the result, we are all pleased of the achievement. Redcon 2A is still a very good result imo. And i am personally pleased that myself and my signal platoon got Redcon 2A as well, considering the fact that in SP Coy, 2 other platoons got 2B and one even achieved a 3. As much as signals is not highlighted during the brief, my OC Signal told me "in the area of comms, no comment is a good comment". On hindsight, i couldn't agree more. People tend to take things like comms for granted. just take our handphones for example. we never appreciate that it works till it stops working. I am proud to say that comms was a success for ATEC, and my platoon made sure of that. I am proud of all my men who had to endure the sufferings and discomfort of carrying their heavy loads /signal sets and walking over 15km through challenging undulating terrain in rather extreme conditions, and also, none of them were shot by the enemy.

Well done Signal Platoon, you have done our formation proud!
